It is with full hearts that we invite you to share the day we say "yes" to a life made together, amid the chrysanthemums of Yushima Tenmangu's autumn festival, on a quiet November afternoon in Tokyo.
The years that brought us here have been kinder for the people in them, and you are among the ones who shaped us. We hope, with everything, that yours will be one of the faces we see as we walk through the torii on the sixteenth.
湯島天満宮 Yushima Tenmangu
Founded in 458 CE and dedicated to Tenjin, kami of learning, Yushima Tenmangu is a fitting place for couples to ask for a wise and lasting start. Its halls and ema plaques are carved from kiso hinoki, the long-grained cypress that, for a couple, carries musubi: a bond patient and strong, deepening with the years.
The Day
大安 Chosen as a Taian, the most auspicious day in the Japanese rokuyō calendar for new beginnings.
Kimono or Western attire, both equally welcome. Please cover shoulders and knees, and wear closed-toed shoes with socks (which may need to come off indoors).

Yushima Tenmangu sits a short walk from Yushima Station (Chiyoda Line) and Ueno-Hirokōji Station (Ginza Line). For guests staying nearby, a few hotels within walking distance of the shrine.

Truly - having you with us in Tokyo is everything we could ask for. For those who have asked about gifts: we're beginning married life with a search for our first home together.
